An article I saw on Zhihu mentioned that you can build a personal blog on the blockchain without needing to purchase a host, and you can directly bind a domain name. Moreover, using blockchain technology seems very advanced, and compared to Hexo and GitHub, it allows for convenient operations on mobile devices, so it might be worth trying.
I applied for a wallet as required and completed the blog setup, but the domain binding has not been successful for some reason, which needs further investigation. Additionally, there are many features on the dashboard that I need to learn and explore gradually in the future.
Let me share my initial experience.
First, regarding speed, this is much slower compared to paid servers, and it is about the same speed as free hosts applied for from the external network.
Secondly, in terms of convenience of operation, every time I publish an article, I need to log into the xLog backend through the wallet first. There isn't a separate backend like an independent blog website, but once you get used to the operation, it should be similar. You can install the wallet plugin extension in advance on both your commonly used computer and mobile devices, and the subsequent operations are not too troublesome. Compared to blogs built with Hexo and GitHub, it is indeed much more convenient.
Then, in terms of privacy, since the program is built on the blockchain, all operations will be recorded and cannot be fundamentally deleted. Therefore, the content published should be well thought out, avoiding too much controversy and strong aggression (as these could become irremovable evidence 😅). Additionally, overly private content is not very suitable for publication.
Finally, regarding the security of the website itself, compared to free hosts applied for from the external network, there is currently no need to consider the risk of the service provider running away.
